After a successful Soccer Mania event with Mcdonalds I'm thankful for having a chance to get a 2 week break to recharge and get back on the road...the journey of a Futkalero "The saga continues".  This time it will be nothing like Soccer Mania, where we were very comfortable teaching and promoting the sport inside SM malls.  This time its going to be in the unknown streets of Tondo Quezon City.  In Brasil the greatest players come from the toughest areas, and Tondo being one of the most reputable cities for its violent stories and crimes I truly believe that if they have more options in channeling their strength and focus into positive outlets like a sport or a game this can improve their everyday living and struggles in life.  Not only will this be a new experience for the kids but it would be an eye-opener to all the Futkaleros who will be part of this journey.  We will get a chance to see the metaphors of Tondo, it will be much more of a learning experience for us than to them....or maybe the same.  So for those who want to get out of their comfort zone and live the daily life in Tondo while teaching Futkal I formally "invite you".  You dont have to go through the whole month any of your free-time will do.  You are very welcome to stay in the house of Futkaleros @ Quezon City....regardless of all the uncertainties I promise its going to be awhole lot of FUN!!!!!  Soldier boys & girls....TARA NA! : )

The Soul of FUTKAL

Futkal is an original Filipino term for street soccer.  It is an active lifestyle sport that will capture a niche market in the football industry --the people of the streets.  For those who were born on the streets, grew up in the streets, and sooner or later die on the streets, Futkal comes in as an alternative way of playing soccer & teaching soccer, It is a fast-paced, high-energy, high scoring game -  an extra-ordinary sport that has no rules or boundaries, just guidelines and music to add rhythm to the game.  You won’t find traditional uniforms here, just unique street style that identifies each team’s fashion preferrence.  It brings out an individuals passion for the game, pushing one to perform with a unique flavor that comes from learning from the streets and applying it in real life.

We all know that football is a game for us pinoys.  We all feel that it is a game that can make Filipinos happy.  We SEE the potential of us “kayumanggi’ to make it international just like the blacks, whites, all the colors of the world. This game is perfectly suited to pinoys who are fast, skillful, and crafty.  Futkals goal is to uplift Philippine football to a level at par with our neighbors, and help Filipinos get recognized by other Asian & International clubs in its 10 ++ years (Millennium Development Goal).

Futkal aims to bring the game right in front of them -  right here, right now with a ball, 2 rocks that will serve as goal, and a challenger.  Whether your are 2,4,6,7,8 or 9 players, as long as you know how to kick the ball and run, everything else can be learned during the game.

On the mental side of Futkal, we emphasize that physical strength is not as powerful as being analytical…using the mind and making the right decisions at the right moment.  We practice sportsmanship, by accepting defeat, camaraderie by thanking your challenger for the great game, and use positivism  as a tool that will push us forward to the next round.

Socially, we will build bridges with all walks of life.  It appeals to everyone from the upper class to the middle class, to the lower class and even lower, from  Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao to Brazil, Portugal, Argentina England, from the poorest country of the world to the richest.  Because of futkal or football in general, we will be able to build bridges with them, getting to know more about their people, culture and country, making us bigger and brighter in the map.

It was another eventfull for Futkal when we welcomed half of the Mens RP football team at the Mizuno BMG Bldg.  We had a great lunch at Kublais Rock then proceeded with the press-con.  Questions coming from Solar-Sports, action & Fitness, Metro Active, Phil. Star and more were thrown at the young well composed lads of Phil. football.  Afterwhich they had 1 on 1 interviews with the respective press people.  Ofcourse FutKal came up with something "Out of the Box"  where they had their "Futkal Show" right there and then, featuring the Philippines finest football players and instead of asking the usual football questions we got to know them more by asking them more "personal questions".  We were surpirsed that there were more to what these kids could offer...its funy...amazing and controversial.  Watch out for the next "Futkal Show" and no more of the otherside of these Lads.

The best season for FutKal is from November to February were the weather is cool, calm and relaxed. Christmass is right around the corner, another year passes by, and we welcome another 12 months of life.  The beauty about FutKal is not just in the game but in the spontainety of the mooment.  It is the best time to go out on the streets bring some friends look for a safe spot and just kick the ball around.  So keep your eyes wide open, get your game on the road, and watch out for Futkaleros.....Futkalistas doing what they love doing on a street near by.
